I am an engineer who loves reading, movies and cartoons
I live in Aberdeen with may wife and kids. I have one big bouncy fluffly dog who loves walking with me every day. We love going on adventures in forests and mountains. My favourite pizza is Papa Johns Double Pepperoni :-). I am a big fan of Batman and Teen Titans.
How I Use Maths In My Job:
I use Maths since as an engineer in the oil industry I need to know what will my work (building oil wells) cost. So I use algebra, ratio & proportion to work out how much will I have to pay every month and every year. I use Statistics to look at all the wells drilled offshore, and work out which was the fastest and cheapest. I use probability to work out the chance if my well will finish in 30 days or 50 days. I use geometry to work out if the well we are drilling offshore is heading in the same direction as we want to target (to find oil).
I look after oil and gas wells in North Sea. This means coming up with how deep the oil well will be, how much will it cost and learn after it gets completed.
