About Me
Lecturer in Maths at University of Essex. Interested in how maths can help with problems in biology and vice-versa.
-
How I Use Maths In My Job:
I use many different areas of maths in my work. One major part of my research involves tracking animals as they move, this means I have to use elements of algebra, trigonometry and geometry to understand where the animal is in space. Then by taking various measurements and, importantly, deciding which measurements are useful I have to use some probability and statistics to help analyse and understand what the data we have recorded can tell us.
