I struggled during my degree, especially in the first term as there were a lot of abstract concepts that were new to me. I remember really struggling with a space that was finite dimensional but infinite, until some showed me a simple example: a two dimensional graph – it has two dimensions (the x and y axes) but is (in principle) infinite.
My degree was pure mathematics, I rediscovered the joy of mathematics when I started working and started applying. Also when I was introduced to discrete maths and then operational research, and my real passion optimisation.
Maths is a very broad subject, find the bits that you enjoy and don’t worry about the bits you don’t like or don’t understand – there’s plenty to go around! 🙂

soemtimes when seveal steps have to be done many times, but gettin an answer at the end is always so satisfying it is worth it. Ask any athlete if they are not sometimes bored by training. No pain no gain
