• Question: If someone was to ask you what your career is, would you call yourself a mathematician?

      Kind of if someone asks me what I do I usually say I am a researcher at the University, and then if they ask what kind of research I say Mathematical Biology

      No. I’d call myself a scientist. In more detail, a cognitive psychologist and statistician

      Not normally. But most of my jobs have required me to use maths. At the moment I’d probably describe myself as a ‘(Data) Analyst’.

      I first say “I’m a researcher at the university”, then if someone asks more I say “I do computational linguistics”, which means that I’m someone who uses maths for languages.

      It is also possibly to study Computational Linguistics, although not everywhere.

      Depends a bit on who it is – but i would either say I’m a mathematician or a researcher using maths to help the NHS

      I would call myself a statistician who works in a university.
