      its very individual great mathematicians can come form almost anythere
      e.g great amthematician ramunjun made breakthroughs with only school maths.

      usa may have advantage if much computing power needed but maybe not

    Mathematics isn’t a single subject. It’s dozens, hundreds of tiny subjects. Some universities are better for some flavours, others are better at others. It is very hard to compare one country with another – is a world-class US Number Theorist better than a French Statistician or a Ugandan Algebraist?
    How do we judge better- is it having lots of papers published? is it explaining your work to the largest number of people? is it winning the most awards?
