  Difficult question. I can’t name just one. Among fictions, the one which made me cry and yet I love it is “A Thousand Splendid Suns” – Khaled Hosseini.
  Among lighter subjects, a few years ago I was introduced to the Discworld series and my favourite from this series is “Equal Rites”.
  Among case-studies I enjoyed reading Oliver Sack’s “The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat”, especially since I have been a fan of neurology and anomalies in brain functioning.

  I don’t have a single favourite… I love good historical fiction (normally Roman times or medieval Europe – the Caesar series by Colleen McCollough were amazing) and good sci fi – Dune by Frank Herbert is probably still my favourite and I love all the Iain M. Banks Culture novels too. More recently, the Ancillary Justice series were brilliant. A few years ago I got a bit obsessed with the Hunger Games trilogy too!

  Oh there are just too many to have a single favourite. Last year I read The Book Of Why by Judea Pearl over and over again as it’s on my favourite bit of maths. I also really like historical fiction so Philippa Gregory is an author I always enjoy but when I was younger I just loved the Lord of The Rings series and anything by Agatha Christie.

  Probably the book that impressed me the most was the Black Corsair, a 1898 book authored by Salgari, as a second option I would put the Harry Potter saga.

  In fiction, my favourite authors are Terry Pratchett (his Discworld series) and more recently, Ben Aaronovitch (Rivers of London Series). But there are tons of authors I really enjoy, including some young adult fiction (e.g. hunger games series, divergence series and the percy jackson greek mythology books). My most recent fiction book was “Woman, Girl, Other” by Bernardine Evaristo which was really, really good (and a different style of writing than I’m used to, so was an interesting read from that perspective too).
  
  For non-fiction, I’d highly reccommend:
  – “Invisible Women” by Caroline Criado Perez – really interesting book about data/data biases and how they affect the world around us
  – “It’s not about the Burqa” edited by Mariam Khan – a collection of stories from different muslim women on all different aspects of life
  – “Nasty Women” by 404 Ink – another collection of stories from different prespectives
  – “Big Data: does size matter?” by Timandra Harkness – all about the use of big data etc – similar topic to Invisible Women but from a slightly different angle
